How often should you have your office cleaned?
The right cleaning frequency depends on your headcount, the nature of your work and your sector. Here's a practical guide.
Daily cleaning — for most offices
Any workspace with more than 10 people in it daily almost certainly needs daily cleaning. Touchpoints — door handles, light switches, shared equipment — accumulate bacteria quickly in busy environments. Washrooms need daily attention regardless of office size.
High-footfall customer-facing areas (reception, waiting rooms, retail floors) should always be cleaned daily, and often need a mid-day check as well.
Three times a week
Smaller offices of 5–10 people can often manage well with three cleans per week, supplemented by staff keeping their own desk areas tidy. This is the most common starting point for smaller businesses and is usually the most cost-effective option.
Weekly — for very small teams
A clean of 1–4 people working in a well-maintained space can sometimes manage with a thorough weekly clean, though washrooms should still be checked more frequently.
What about specialised environments?
Medical practices, nurseries, schools and care settings need a higher standard and more frequent cleaning regardless of size. We provide DBS Police Checked teams specifically for these environments — get in touch for a tailored programme.
Our recommendation
Start with the frequency that feels right, then review after four to six weeks. Most clients find that daily cleaning is less expensive per visit than they expected and the difference in their premises — and the impression it makes on clients and staff — is immediately noticeable.
